A lot of people (including me) use snap at my college. It’s an easy way to keep in touch with each other and passively seeing what they’re doing without bothering them. This way you can see if they’re practicing or if they’re nearby so you don’t interrupt them. It’s also a great way to notify everyone of you need help or have a performance coming up. It’s used almost like a less serious Facebook, since most of the things that are happening don’t need to be archived.

Yeah, I liked Snapchat.. but I switched phones and couldn't log back on due to 2-step verification...and I didn't want to spend time figuring out how.....that was 2 years ago :D

Maybe it's a generational thing but I honestly don't get the appeal of Snapchat (and Snapchat-like) social media platforms. It's not just that I don't get the appeal, it completely baffles and confuses me. I'm not that old (born early half of the 80s which classifies me still as a millenial) and my generation grew up "fighting" (I put that in quotes because it wasn't like a real war or anything) for our chat messages to have permanence. Remember the days of ICQ and Yahoo Messenger when conversations you had with people disappeared the moment you closed the window? Yeah? That was HELL. Why would you not want your messages and conversations documented?? It makes people more honest and kinder in conversations and not bullshit each other because they know their crap is recorded. Or Is the function of Snapchat more for like a sexting thing? Or like a "dealing in drugs or illegal stuff" type of thing where you do not want to leave evidence for others to find? Someone young please explain. I have friends in their early 20s and I've asked them but they can't explain it either (they don't use Snapchat as well). WTH is the appeal of this app?
